A large and impressive porcelain figural grouping comprising of a family in late 18th century attire making merry in their parlor around a harpsichord. The rocaille scroll base with gilt highlights. To the front is a triple fleur-de-lis oval cartouche Coat of Arms of the Kings of France. Each figure is finely handcrafted and painted. The base is fitted perfectly with gilt highlights and Dresden lace porcelain trimmed garments.

The Volkstedt porcelain manufactory sited in Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany, was the earliest porcelain manufactory in Thuringia. It was in business as the "Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Manufactory". The porcelain factory was founded in 1760 by the porcelain maker Georg Heinrich Macheleid (1723 -1801) Volkstedt gained a reputation for its finely painted and carefully modelled porcelain figures that it holds for collectors today
